Our Profile
The role of the Ministry of Construction is undertaking construction of housing, buildings and infrastructure throughout the nation. It is formed of five main organizations: the Department of Buildings, the Department of Highways, the Department of Bridges, the Department of Urban and Housing Development (DUHD) and the Department of Rural Road Development.

Formation
DUHD conceived as Rangoon municipality to develop and sell land plots in constructing Rangoon as commercial and political hub in 1852. Later the institution has been transformed in accord with changing economic policies.1874 Rangoon Municipal leased land under grant system and collected land revenue to incur management and development fees.

Mission
- To formulate and adopt the required policy, law, bylaws, regulations and procedures for supporting spatial development and sustainable development of urban and housing sector.
- To prepare the urban development concept plans, structure plans and master plans which include housing, industrial zone, special economic and development zoning areas to contribute the socioeconomic development.
- To propose National Housing Policy and implementation plan accordingly.
- To provide adequate and affordable housing for people in sustainable ways through rental, low cost housing projects.
